Duration: 30 minutes
Materials: Artist's body, Iron, PVC, water, screws, PVC glue.
I have been at some time boy and girl, bush, bird and
a mute fish emerging from the sea. (Empedocles, Katharmoi 117)
I am diving into the aquarium, trying to reach its bottom. The up-thrust makes my movements slow; it is not easy to go down. I am trying to keep my head into the water as much as possible. From time to time, I get out on the surface for a short breath and I dive in again. At some point, I start to tear the forefront of the installation with a cutter. The water slowly flows out of the aquarium, getting an almost sculptural dimension. After a while, I cut the rest of the material all at once. The water spills over like a cascade and throws me out of the installation. Last image: my body in the mud.
